Blog Wars 4 Photos

Here are just a view images from Blog Wars 4. I really need to start taking more photos of me playing though, lol.

So I have been to a couple of tournaments recently and lots has been happening. So not been blogging much as life, painting and tournies have all got in the way. But the main two tournaments I have been to recently were the Heat 3 of the GT in England and Blog Wars 4.

Now some of you may know that I have been experimenting with drop pods since 6th ed has come on to the the scene with varied success. And as some tournaments are allowing Forge World models in I have been taking advantage of these rules as well.

So my first tournament I want to tell you about was Heat 3 of the England GT's. There were allowing forge world models to be present here so I was taking advantage of Lucius Pattern Drop Pods. Here was my list.

Rune Priest

Dreadnought, Necklace, Storm Bolter, Assault Cannon, Lucius Pod

Now I can say this list works very well if used properly, with pods if you use it right it can be a real winner but one mistake and that can be the game all over. However it is really fun to play with and isn't that the name of the game! I had good results with this list and would have qualified for the finals if it had not been for a silly mistake written on my submitted entry list. I was penalised and lost points dropping me down the field. However if that was not the case I was happy in the knowledge that I easily qualified for the finals with a comfortable 3 wins. I had 3 losses at the GT as well but I feel that they were my fault and not the lists and more practise has taught me how to win those battles!

As for Blog Wars the lists had to be different as we were not allowed forge world and we had to include a special character. So what character could be better than ol Nigel. lol Here was my list.

Njal Stormcaller in Terminator Armour
Rune Priest
x10 Hunters, Standard, x2 Melta, Pod
x10 Hunters, Standard, x2 Melta, Pod
x10 Hunters, Standard, x2 Melta, Pod
x10 Hunters, Standard, x2 Melta, Pod
x8 Hunters, Standard, Plasma, Pod
x8 Hunters, Standard, Plasma, Pod
x6 Long Fangs, 3 Missile, 2 Lascannons
Lone Wolf, Terminator, Storm Shield, Power Fist
Aegis Defence Line with Coms relay

1850 points

This was a one day tournament and this list was a lot of fun, with Nigel running the show with his on board powers it was very different from the usual tournaments. In the end I finished with a loss and two wins so I was a happy chappy finishing in 11th. Again you have to be careful with the pods and how to use them but I feel as though I can only get better with practise and learn better manoeuvres with more and varied opponents.

Well hope you enjoyed and now I shall upload some photots from Blog Wars so you can see some of the fantastic armies I have been facing.
See you all soon.

A kick in the rear!!!!!!!!

Sometimes you lack a little motivation but then you get a kick in the rear. Like today!

So I have a team tournament coming up with Peter, Gill and Dan who you will all find on my blogs that I follow list. But ever since the new rules came out I have felt a bit lost and not know what to do with the game and what to do with my Space Wolf army. Then you get a great day like today which was to get your team mates round (minus Dan for lack of MOT) to remind you of your love for the game and help you understand it once more.

This team event is only in a couple of weeks at the end of September and it is teams of 4 players battling it out with 1850 point lists for the glory. But as I have said I had no idea where to go with my army as this is my first tournament in 6th edition. My previous lists as you might have read, featured a lot of mech so my grey hunters were nice and safe until they jusp out and rip your head off! But all 6th ed seems to bring me is a lot of shaken wrecks all over the table. So a twelve hour gaming session was called for with the lads. So I think I have now come up with (with a lot of help from Peters great brain) a fairly competitive list that at least gives me half a chance to have some fun.

So the basic run down of what I think I will be using for this tournament is a foot slogger list. OMG no mech on the table at all (unless you class a lonely Wolf Lord on a bike, haha).

Rune Priest in Terminator Armour
Rune Priest in Power Armour
Wolf Lord on Bike

5 Scouts with Heavy Bolter (scouts really!!!! I cant believe it either)

10 Grey Hunters with 2 Melta and Banner
10 Grey Hunters with 2 Melta and Banner
10 Grey Hunters with 2 Plasma and Banner
10 Grey Hunters with 2 Plasma, Banner and Drop Pod (the return of the infamous drop pod)

3 Thunder Wolves with Hammer and 3 Storm Shields (Love my dogs)

Long Fangs 2 Las and 3 Plasma
Long Fnags 2 Las and 3 Missile

So thats it! Well there are a few blasts from the blast here that I have not played since starting the game. Scouts never were brilliant in my opinion but in this list I use them as a fast delivery system for my Wolf Lord using the Outflank rule which should cause some bother.
Drop Pods I have never used that much because in 5th you seemed to have to fill your army with them to utilise them properly but with this dropping a ten man unit to break up the lines or drop on a relic seems a good use of the points now.
Return of the Plasma gun that used to kill off more of my own guys than the enemies when they blew up in there own faces but now seem to be really useable and great when rapid firing and killing any pesky terminators that what to smash your face in.

So the plan basically is to be really aggressive, more than what i an used to. Not to sure how it will work out when I am trying to capture lots of objectives but hopefully I will be able to place them where I need them. So it will be to storm forward with the grey's and thunder wolves. Drop down hard in there lines with the drop pod and outflank them at the back with the lord to really stir some trouble up. I should not be giving up first blood to easy with this list and hopefully breaking there lines before they know what has hit them. And if I need to just shoot and fire to break them down I can do that within the 24inches and soften them up before the big charge of 40 grey hunters with 3 attacks each, re rolling my hits with the two rune priest squads using the primus from the divination psychic powers. Well sounds good to me anyways.

But hey, any of you want to let me know your thoughts please comment below and I will let you know how the battles are progressing with these new tactics. Hopefully for the good.
Thanks for reading and see you all soon.
And again a big thanks to Peter and Gill!

WIP Diorama

Sometimes I just get fed up of painting 40k so thats when I go to my dioramas. Love making them and going really menatl on the bases. But here are some of the characters due to feature in some of the diorams I have planned.
Just wanted to share the pics today as I have had a whole day of painting them and thought they deserved some recognition.
Let me know what you think.

WIP Thunder Wolves

So I keep using them in my games so I thought I would put the spotlight on them! Here are my thunderwolf cavalry which I love using at the moment and supposedly are meant to get even better in 6th edition.
I run 3 at the moment, all with storm shields, one with a thunder hammer, two with close combat weapon and one of the ccw's carrying melta bombs only to assist with wound allocation really. I find they are so effective in close combat and chew through most things with the rending attacks and the thunder hammer. I think I will buy some more and my dream at the moment is to run two sqauds of 5 thunderwolf a piece. I think as long as I can get them into the thick of it quick enough they can decimate most foes!
Well here's the pics and comments please.

Titan update

So another titan update, lot more pics for you to see! I think its coming on quite nicely. Oh and I love my bit box. lol. Plenty more detail to be put on but tell me what you think so far.
Also I decided to put ol titan on a base so that when I dont want to play him I can use him as terrain, haha.
